Orb Artists
Orb has worked with and supported many talented local artists as well as ones from further afield. Here are some of the people who’ve made original work at Orb, shown pieces in our exhibitions and helped establish the art space as such a positive creative place.
Maria Slovakova
Maria is a Slovakian born artist who has spent time in New York and now lives and works in London. A talented and original artist, Maria was integral to the establishment of ArtSpace at Orb, creating a wide range of artwork, exhibiting for us and even donating some of her pieces to the charity.
Mark Hemingway
Local artist and musician Mark Hemingway has been a fixture on the Harrogate art scene for a number of years. As well as performing with local punk band The Complaints, Mark also creates powerful original artwork which he has exhibited both for Orb and in his own right.
Jake Davy
A regular user of Orb facilities, Jake is both a prolific artist and guitarist in a number of local rock groups. His work has been exhibited a number of times for Orb and ranges from portraiture through to abstract canvasses awash with colour.
Babaloo
Babaloo started using Orb facilities in 2009 and instantly proved to be an exciting new talent. Working across a variety of materials from canvass and wood through to Perspex and found materials, Babaloo’s dramatic use of abstract from and colour was a key feature in Orb exhibitions at Henshaw’s College of Arts & Craft and World Mental Health Day. Sadly Babaloo passed away unexpectedly in the Spring of 2010. Her talent and positivity will be sadly missed by everybody involved with Orb.
